Books about creators

I’ve always been drawn to books about children’s book creators. I love discovering what first inspired them, how they found their way into the field, and the paths their lives took along the way. Over the years I’ve built a collection of biographies and memoirs by Maurice Sendak, Laurent de Brunhoff, Richard Scarry, Stan and Jan Berenstain, Beverly Cleary, and many others.

Each story spans a different era, a different career, and a different creative journey. No two are alike, yet they all share one common thread: a deep love of making books for children. Reading these stories lets me know the people behind the books, not just the names on the covers of the stories I grew up loving.
